Robert Whippy ACIM 

Account Executive

Robert began working at the brokerage in 2014 and he has gained valuable experience dealing with Car Insurance before moving onto Home and Commercial Vehicle Insurance. Last year he was appointed our Personal Insurance Manager and he is responsible for the entire Personal Insurance book of business. Since qualifying in his marketing examinations with a Certificate and Diploma in Professional Marketing as well as ACIM accreditation, he is also the company’s Marketing Manager. Robert’s aim is to provide excellent customer service to ensure our clients receive good advice, are well informed and receive high quality cover for all their insurance needs.

Outside of work, Robert enjoys going to watch his favourite football club Arsenal. Robert’s other hobbies include going for walks, socialising with friends and travelling abroad. His pet hates are slow internet connections and people who jump the queue.

Christopher Whippy BA(Hons) MA

Commercial Account Executive

After joining John Whippy Insurance Brokers in July 2013, Christopher initially dealt with Private Car and Household Insurance. Since then, Christopher specialises in the commercial section of the brokerage, specifically with Property Owners, Liability and Motor Fleet Insurance.

Christopher has achieved a Bachelor of Honours Degree in International Relations and Politics from the University of Portsmouth and a Master’s Degree in Politics from the University of Warsaw in Poland. He also spent a year studying in Minnesota, USA as part of his Undergraduate Degree. Through his studies, Christopher has also undertaken exams through the Chartered Insurance Institute.

In his spare time, Christopher likes to watch football, go jogging and regularly practices public speaking at Eastbourne Speakers Club which is part of the Toastmasters International Organisation. Christopher is a strong Wolverhampton Wanderers Supporter.

Thomas Whippy Dip CII BA(Hons) Senior Account Manager

Thomas joined the business in 2009 shortly after graduating with a Business Degree from Bournemouth University, during which time he also gained valuable marketing and sales experience, having worked for a leading cyber security firm. Shortly after joining John Whippy Insurance Brokers Thomas began his insurance exams and proudly achieved the Diploma in Insurance (DIP CII) Accreditation as part of our ongoing commitment to continuous training and development. Thomas has developed a wealth of knowledge in both personal and commercial insurance, with his current preferred area of expertise falling in Landlord & Commercial Property Insurance, Retail and Business Insurance and larger Commercial Risks. His consultative approach to risk analysis ensures that his clients receive an excellent service benefiting from high quality insurance solutions.

Much of Thomas’ time is spent with his family including his young daughter but when time permits he also enjoys watching football and going swimming. Thomas has a keen interest in geography, travel and culture and he would like to tick off Australia and the Far East from his bucket list. Some of his pet hates are people who drive too close behind you and endless telephone options and queuing!

Joanna Whippy 

Finance Director

Joanna joined the family business in 1995 and over the years she has dealt with all aspects of the business starting with Car and Home Insurance before moving on to Commercial Business Insurance. Today, Joanna is the Finance Director dealing with all aspects of the company finance. Being Polish has given her an advantage dealing with a large number of our Polish clients.

In Joanna’s spare time she enjoys long walks along the beach (sometimes jogging). Joanna also likes travelling and discovering new cuisines. She loves a glass of Prosecco. Joanna’s pet hates are people who answer their mobile phones whilst being served.

Gavin Whippy ACII CeMAP

Managing Director

Our longest serving member of staff, Gavin Whippy joined the brokerage on a full time basis in 1987 before taking over from his Father, John Whippy in 1999. Gavin has over 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry having dealt with both General Insurance and Non-General Insurance including Private Health Care and Life Assurance.

In March 1993 having completed his examination programme, Gavin gained the ACII accreditation, upon becoming an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and now holds the status of Chartered Insurance Broker.

Currently Gavin looks after a portfolio of corporate and private clients whilst overseeing the day to day operation of the business. Gavin is responsible for our insurer relationships and agent facilities managing an array of exclusive product schemes for the brokerage.

Away from work Gavin enjoys spending time with his family and friends and is a keen supporter of Arsenal Football Club. Gavin is somewhat a beer connoisseur and can often be found at many local beer festivals! He also enjoys travelling and the planning of his next trip abroad is never far away. Gavin’s pet hates are automated phone options, spam e-mail and “It’s a Railway Station, Not a Train Station”!
